Young and beautiful, Nozipo Gondwe has been left severely crippled after a road accident. Unable to continue her career as a fashion model, she takes a job as personal secretary to Steve Pretorius, a handsome, rich man who owns a travel and leisure business. Nozipo finds her employer often cruel and arrogant, and the two of them are separated by differences of race, culture and background. Yet, in spite of everything, she finds herself hopelessly in love with Steve. While on a working holiday at Great Zimbabwe, Nozipo has to be rushed to hospital after Steve saves her life when she appears to be drowning. Two doctors tell Steve they cannot guarantee success in the operation on Nozipo’s leg. Nozipo now makes the greatest decision of her life. She will agree to have surgery but she vows never to see Steve again if the operation is not a success.
