In the peaceful village of Dombaa, sisters Yaa and Karmeh see their lives shattered when the rival Fasha tribe invades, killing Yaa’s fiancé Kwesi and their warrior father, while Karmeh is captured. Ten years later, Dombaa remains under the cruel rule of Chief Amba, and a mysterious, peace-seeking stranger named Jaeger arrives, enduring a brutal flogging to save Yaa from punishment. Jaeger befriends the lame boy Kobbie and is eventually revealed to be Prince Jaeger of Kormele, who fled his royal life to search for peace. When Amba sentences Jaeger to death on false charges, Kobbie and the village boys use a sleeping potion to incapacitate the Fasha guards, allowing the people of Dombaa to overthrow Amba. Jaeger and Yaa marry, and upon arriving in Kormele, Yaa is miraculously reunited with Karmeh, who has built a new life there as a wife and mother, bringing the story to a joyful close that affirms love and inner peace triumph over violence and tyranny.
